Day 1 of Build Season

YAY! FIRST finally released the game for this year, we were so anxious about what it would it be. We were really hoping for a water game, but that was not it, it was Aerial Assist which is played with 2 alliances of 3 robots. To break the game down into it's simplest parts: each alliance of 3 robots must work together to score a 24" diameter exercise ball into either a small goal on the ground for 1 point or a larger rectangular goal about 6' in the air.

Here's the catch though. There are HUGE bonuses for passing (assisting) your teammates to score. Basically, if each robot passes the ball, there is a 30 point bonus to the 10 or 1 point score. That's a lot!!! There is also a truss in the middle of the field which teams can fling the ball over for a 10 point bonus. Catching that throw over the truss is another 10 point bonus.

This game is certainly going to be exciting!! The totally open field is something our driver, Bryce, has always been dreaming about. Pre-match driver meetings are going to be so important to the match. No more "watch us score" strategies. Every Alliance member (especially in Eliminations) will be necessary to advance.

We decided to make the 10 points goal for our robot to push the ball to make the goal more like shot-put it into the goal that what we thought would be the best way to make it in the goal.If any robot would would block we would have a tester to try that and so it could move in the right was so it could make the goal the right way.

Yesterday after we got our parts we went to eat at Panda Express, our team filled the restaurant and just talking about what the hole video was all about and what our robots could do.We got back from St.Cloud and we were trying to pick what kind of tactic we should use and what part of the field we should make.
